Nicknamed “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey is a 33-year old professional wrestler, actress, author, and former MMA in America. She began her career as judo artist at the age of eleven with her mother and the age of 17, she became the youngest judoka to qualify for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens but she lost the tournament. Later in the same year, 2004, she became successful to win a gold medal at the World Junior Judo Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
In April 2006, she also became the first female US judoka and registered nearly for 10 years to win an A-Level tournament. A year later, Rousey became the first US athlete to win two Junior World medals after winning the bronze medal at the Junior World Championships at the age of 19. In February 2007, a silver medal at the 2007 World Judo Championships and the gold medal at the 2007 Pan American Games were the great achievements for Rousey in the middleweight division.
Rousey competed at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China and won a bronze medal. Along with this victory, Rousey became the first American to win an Olympic medal in women’s judo and she retired from judo at 21.
Rousey stepped in mixed martial arts debut in 2010 and made her professional mixed martial arts debut in 2011, at King of the Cage: Turning Point. In the same year, Rousey debuted in Strikeforce and defeated Sarah D’Alelio. However, the win was controversial. Then at Strikeforce Challengers 20, Rousey faced Julia Budd and won the fight. In March 2012, Rousey challenged Tate for her Strikeforce title and she successfully won it that had to be defended against Sarah Kaufman at Strikeforce: Rousey vs. Kaufman in August 2012. Rowdy Ronda Rousey was the first female fighter to sign with the UFC and become the first UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion in November 2012.
A year later, in February, Rousey had to defend her title against Liz Carmouche at UFC 157. In a Strikeforce rematch in December 2013 Rousey lost the match to Miesha Tate. In 2014, Rousey had to defend the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship. Fellow Olympic medallist and undefeated fighter Sara McMann and Alexis Davis, and she succeeded in both matches. The same event was repeated against Zingano at UFC 182 in 2015. Rousey’s UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship became excessive, and she lost her seventh title defence to Holly Holm. After the match, Rousey was suggested to take rest until she was medically fit. After over a year away from the sport, Rousey returned to face the current champion, Amanda Nunes. On December 2016, at UFC 207 but she couldn’t regain her title. With this loss, Rousey made a statement to retire from MMA in 2018.
Rousey has written her autobiography, “My Fight, Your Fight”. Which drives the journey of MMA Career, Olympic Judo and her private life. Rousey engaged with fellow UFC fighter, Travis Browne in April 2017 in New Zealand. four months later, the couple married in Browne’s home state of Hawaii.
