Rachel Daly is a 28-year old professional hot soccer player from Harrogate, England. She attended St. John’s University to play for the Red Storm of the Big East Conference. Although she did not play during her freshman season due to compliance regulations set by the NCAA, Daly dominated as a sophomore, setting school records for most goals and points in a season. During her junior and senior seasons Daly continued to lead the team in scoring and finished with 50 goals and 111 points, both university records. In addition, Daly was All-America First Team by the NSCAA.
Internationally Daly played for England at several levels from the ages of 15 through 23 and part of the 2008 World Cup team that placed fourth. Daly was named to England’s national squad in 2016 and score her first goal in a 7-0 win over Serbia on June 4, 2016. She also scored in a 6-0 triumph over Kazakhstan at the 2019 World Cup Qualifying and appeared in all four matches. Through 2019, Daly has appeared in 29 international matches for team England.
In 2016 Daly was chosen by the Houston Dash of the NWSL with the sixth pick in the draft. She made an immediate impact, earning player of the week for the first week after being a key contributor in a two- goal win against Chicago. Daly contributed eight points in 16 games for the season and added five goals in 23 games in 2017.
The 2018 season was Daly’s best. She was Player of the Month for May was well as earning Player of the Week. Daly reached a career-high in goals for a season with nine, and earned team MVP honors for the season.
Last season, Daly scored her first goal on April 28 against North Carolina and was instrumental in the team’s first victory against Utah on May 11. Eight days later, Daly left the team for the 2019 World Cup. Through last season, Daly has participated in 73 games for the Dash.
