Early years

Born in 1986, Miesha Tate MMA fighter (retired) and Mixed Martial Artist pundit.  Followed a career through the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Becoming a U.F.C Women’s Bantamweight Champion. Miesha is nicknamed “cupcake”.

Tate knew her grappling ability since early and she excelled at it to become a wrestler, while attending Franklin Pierce High School in Tacoma, Washington. At the age of 19, Tate became state championship in 2005. While studying at Central Washington University, In 2006 Tate attended the mixed martial arts club for the first time encouraged by her friends. In that club, Tate faced Elizabeth Posener and she won the match setting a 5–1 amateur record in MMA.

Starting her professional mixed martial arts (MMA) career in 2007. Tate was already a prepared MMA fighter, so it didn’t take long to win the bantamweight championship of the Freestyle Cage Fighting promotion. Later, she overcame Jan Finney and won the 135-pound FCF Women’s Bantamweight Championship. After a year, Tate debuted in Strikeforce, an MMA promotion based in San Jose, California. Defeating Elaina Maxwell in the 135-pound bantamweight division. 

In April 2009, Tate returned to participate at Strikeforce Challengers: Evangelista vs. Aina. Originally Tate was scheduled to face Kim Couture. In the end the fight was against Sarah Kaufman, Sadly losing the match through a unanimous decision. A year later, Tate participated in a one-night Strikeforce women’s tournament at Strikeforce Challengers: Riggs vs. Taylor where she defeated Maiju Kujala. Gradually, Tate’s popularity had been increasing and it reached it’s height when winning the Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight Championship in 2011. Then, Miesha also won a silver medal in the FILA Grappling Championships. In 2012, Tate faced Julie Kedzie at Strikeforce: Winning the bout again. 

Along with Strikeforce, Tate officially debuted in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). In February 2013 the first match for Tate scheduled was against Cat Zingano. Tate lost the match, But due to injury Zingano was withdrawn from the next match that was to be Zingano Vs. Ronda Rousey. So on December 28, 2013, a rematch was scheduled at UFC 168 where Tate fought Rousey unfortunately losing. However, the next two years were to be successful for Tate, Winning frequent matches against Rin Nakai, Sara McMann and Jessica Eye At UFC in 2014 and 2015.

Winning the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship after beating Holly Holm. Became Tate’s final victory. Then, After losing to Amanda Nunes Raquel Pennington at UFC, she retired from MMA.

Personal life post career

With the beginning of 2018, Tate concentrated on her relationship with Johnny Nunez, Who is also a MMA fighter. The couple had their first child, A beautiful daughter named Amaia Nevaeh Nunez, On June 4, 2018, and now they currently live in Singapore.
