Kayla Simmons ex cheerleader
Before she excelled in volleyball, The Hot Kayla Simmons was a competitive cheerleader for five years. Winning three national championship titles. In 2011, she made a USA vs. Florida-High Performance appearance, and won four national qualifiers. She received AAU All-American honours in 2012. Next she was selected to the 2013 USA Volleyball Women’s Junior A1 Team. After spending seven years as club team captain, Simmons made four USA v. Junior Olympic appearances. She was also awarded Wendy’s High School Heisman honours. Later, she was selected to the All-Area team four times and to the Gatortown Classic All-Tournament Team twice.
Kayla Simmons the early years
Born in 1995, in Gainsville, Florida, Kayla Simmons attended P.K. Yonge Developmental Research School and later went to Marshall University.
At the high school level, Simmons was the team captain at P.K Yonge at the University of Florida. There she contributed her side to four district titles and five Elite 8 participations. Eventually finishing high school with impressive numbers and afterwards she entered the Herd program. However, Simmons did not acquire popularity until she began to play for Marshall.
Kayla Simmons – freshman
In her freshman year in 2014, Simmons played as a setter for her side and made 26 appearances. She recorded an impressive 17 assists in her Herd debut against Eastern Michigan on Aug 29, 2014. There, she finished the season having played 26 matches and 89 sets while recording 69 assists and 14 digs at the invitational. Simmons also recorded three straight serve aces in Herd’s win over Middle Tennessee on Nov. 2, 2014. That year, she was named to the C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll and awarded the C-USA Academic Medal.
In her sophomore year in 2015, Simmons made another 30 appearances and topped her team with 1,112 assists. She recorded a season-high 57 assists against Davidson at the Panthers Invitational on Sept 12, 2015. Further, she had 54 assists for a personal conference-high against Charlotte on Sept 25. She also collected 18 digs in two matches at Davidson, at UAB on Oct 30. She was selected for the C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll and awarded the C-USA Academic Medal in each of her first two years while playing for Marshall. In volleyball career, she continued her high standards in her junior year and made it also to the Toledo/ASICS All-Tournament team.
Kayla Simmons – Junior career
As a junior player, Simmons participated in 26 matches in which, she played 89 sets in 2016. Then, she went to the Toledo/ASICS All-Tournament team. She had also a season-high 34 assists against Saint Francis on Sept 9, 2016. Then, she compiled a season-high 14 digs in a five-set win over UTSA on Oct 9. Simmons had her best offensive match at FIU on Oct 21. She finished it with a season-best four kills and three aces.
From high school to senior level volleyball player, Kayla Simmons has lots of mixed experience and has contributed highly for her teams throughout her career. Motivational and professional Kayla Simmons is an example for all new upcoming players.
