Early years

Hot mma fighter Julie Kedzie was born on 18th march 1981. Her nickname is “Fireball”.

At the age of five, Kedzie began Taekwondo classes, Attaining a third degree black belt eventually after years of training.

Kedzie studied at Monroe County Martial Arts and later, she returned to the same institution to teach a one-time mixed martial arts class. She graduated in English Literature from Indiana University and she pursued the Masters of Fine Arts program at the University of Iowa.

Early in her career of mixed martial arts in 2005 she won the single-elimination Women’s Grand Prix tournament in Evansville, Indiana. Two years later, Kedzie faced Gina Carano in a featured bout at EliteXC: Destiny, which aired live on Showtime but Julie was beaten.

Though she didn’t win the fight, the fight received “Fight of the Night” honours in 2007. Kedzie again participated in the Elite XC fight on August 24, 2007, and she defeated Kelly Kobold at BodogFight – Vancouver. It was an inconsistent moment for Kedzie who again was defeated by Kaitlin Young, during the filming of the Ultimate Women Challenge in 2010. Later in the same year, on December 18, 2010, Kedzie faced Sarah D’Alelio for Jackson’s MMA Series 3 in Albuquerque, New Mexico and finally won. Next year in 2011, she was booked for a five-round title rematch against Kaitlin Young at Jackson’s MMA Series 4 and she again won.

Further career

After a few subsequent matches, Kedzie debuted in Strikeforce. Against Alexis Davis on July 30, 2011, at Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Henderson in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. Unfortunately losing at the very first match. Then after this came the Strikeforce Challengers 19 card on September 23, 2011, But before the match, her name was withdrawn due to injury. After nearly a year, Kedzie came back at Strikeforce: Rousey vs. Kaufman to face faced Miesha Tate but she again lost the match. 

Kedzie was struggling to succeed and had further dissapointment when debuting against Germaine de Randamie at UFC on Fox 8 in 2013.

A tenacious fighter who was struggling to get results. Even in the final match at UFC Fight Night: Hunt vs. Bigfoot on December 7, 2013, Kedzie could not win against Bethe Correia. With that loss, she decided to leave mixed martial arts competition and ultimately, announced her retirement.
